MVHS Boys Soccer

{What a Season!}

The varsity boys had a wonderful season and now wait to hear if they will earn a wild card spot for CIF.  There is at least one site, www.highschoolsports.net that has us playing as a wild card but this has yet to be confirmed.  We should know for sure by Monday evening.

Yesterday's game against Temescal Canyon was fun for the boys and ended in a WIN with a score of 6 - 2.  Goals came from 6 different players; Ryan, Miguel, Travis, Arturo, Adam, and Danny!!

Robbie Gogatz even had some chances as forward and even scored after the offsides whistle.

Good Evening Soccer Fans!

First I wanted to congratulate the JV Reserve team for their victory today.  They defeated Great Oak 1-0.  They played awesome and I am personally very proud of them.

Tomorrow's games for JV will be at TVHS at 3:15pm.  The will be dismissed at 1:45pm and the bus leaves at 2pm.  Varsity will play at our home away from home (Birdsall Park) at 4pm. 

JV Reserve will be playing again on Saturday morning at 10am against Vista Murrieta.  There will be a team dinner on Friday night 5pm at Bob's on Kalmia and Jefferson.

Varsity currently in First

The Nighthawk Varsity Boys are currently in first place tied with Chaparral.  The team will play CHS Tuesday, January 29th at 3:15pm at Birdsall Park.  Come out and cheer them on!

Here is an article from the Californian covering our win over Vista Murrieta yesterday!  The boys won 2 - 0 with goals scored by Matt and Miguel!  Way to go boys!  Keep it up!

Goal!

Last night was a fun win for the Varsity boys!  They beat Temescal Canyon 5 - 1 with goals scored by Ryan, Miguel, Joe (2), and Travis.  Looks like our team is currently tied for second place with GOHS a half game behind Chaparral.

The Varsity will play at Birdsall Park (next to Great Oak HS/Pechanga) on Thursday (vs. VMHS) and Tuesday (vs. Chaparral).  Both games will be at 3:15pm.  The boys will be riding the bus there.

The JV contests will be away as scheduled.  Thursday is at Vista Murrieta at 3:15pm and at Chaparral on Tuesday the 29^th at 3:15pm.

The JV Reserve game will be at Paloma at 10am on Saturday.  There is NO bus so if you need transportation please let Coach Stratton  or Coach Sanchez know ASAP.

The Varsity boys played an awesome game tonight against Temecula Valley!  The nighthawks won 2 - 0 with goals scored by Miguel and Ryan!  The defense played outstanding!  Well done boys!

This week in soccer

Hello everyone-

I am sure the boys are really excited about going back to school.  I know that I am.  This week is an exciting week.  The Varsity continues in league with contests at Temecula and Great Oak.  Both games will be at 5pm.  The JV is also in league and will be at home at 3:15pm on Tuesday and Thursday.  The JV Reserve will travel to Great Oak on Wednesday for a 3:15pm game.  The boys will be dismissed at 1:45pm from class and be taking a bus over.  They also have a game at Vista Murrieta on Saturday at 10am.  As you can see it is a busy week.

Last week the Varsity tied their first 2 league games.  The JV went 0-1-1 for the week.  The JV reserve lost a great battle against Paloma on Saturday.  It was a very exciting game!   

I am also in need of people who would like to volunteer to put together the banquet.  We need a site and some of the other details worked out (such as a silent auction?).  I will be available to help as much as I can.  Also if anyone wants to host a dinner let me know. 

As always we still have stickers, and shirts available.  M, L, and XL are the sizes I have.  I can work on others if the demand is high enough.  Let me know.

First week of league down

Not a bad start to the Boy's Varsity Soccer League!

The first game was held last Tuesday night at cross-town rivals VMHS,  The game was well fought with the Nighthawks in the lead 2 - 1 down to the last few minutes when VMHS scored on a questionable NON call of offsides.  The boys ended the gamed tied 2 - 2 with goals coming from Adam Hurwitz and Ryan Standifird.

Tonight's game was at Chaparral following the Girl's Varsity win of 4 - 2.  The boys played another great game against a highly rated Valley soccer program.  Our defense was outstanding and the game ended in yet another tie of 1 - 1 with a goal scored by Miguel!

Looking forward to more exciting games from our boys!

Next games are Tuesday against Temecula Valley High School and Thursday at Great Oak High School.

Happy Soccer New Year!

Hello everyone-

I hope that your New Year's was exciting.  My was nice and boring and that is how I like it.  Practice resumed today.  We need to see everyone out there.  We were missing quite a few especially on the JV Reserve.  Thank you to all those who have emailed to tell me what is going on. 

Friday the JV and Varsity will be playing at Paloma Valley at 3:15pm.  The bus will be leaving at 1:45pm.  Please be there.  The JV Reserve is getting ready for their next game on the 12th. 

Now that the holidays are over, it is time to use some of that extra money to but your official Nighthawk wear.  We have long sleeve T-shirts and short sleeve.  The boys have them and are wearing them proudly.  The prices are $20 for the long-sleeve and $10 for the short sleeve.  We still have sticker for $3 or get 2 for $5!  Just let me know if you would like some and I will get them to you as fast as I can.

Lastly, we are still looking for any volunteers to host team dinners for all levels. It is a great opportunity to help as well as enjoy the company of the boys.  The Standifird's did one earlier this year and you can ask them how great the boys are.  It is a lot of fun!!

Update!

Hello again-

Update time for the Varsity.  We won both games today!!  One by an outstanding performance by Tyler Parmenter.  We will play on Wednesday December 26th at 10:45am and 1:15pm on field #1.  The boys will be happy to know that we will be wearing black for at least the first game.

On the same day the JV boy's will also be at the Poly Tournament.  Their first game is at 7am on field 4.  Coach Sanchez got an email to everyone so let him know if there are problems.  The second game will be the same day at either noon or 2:30pm on field 2. 

Everyone enjoy the next few days off and we will see you on Wednesday.
