TGIF everyone!

Just wanted to let you know about the times and dates for the tournaments this week coming up.

The Varsity will be playing at 7:30am tomorrow.  The athletes need to be there at 6:30am and ready to go by 6:45.  The second game will be at 1:30pm or 2pm depending on results.  We will then play on Wednesday the 26th at a time to be determined. 

The JV will play on Wednesday at 7am.  They need to be there at 6am.  Their second game will also be that day at a time TBA. 

Both teams will be at Riverside Poly.  The directions are on the webpage http://www.mvhssoccer.net/

Also I will be sending out an email about the rest of the season.  Due to maintenance issue with our track, we will be rearranging the schedule.  I will get that all together and send it out as well as get it on the website.

Hey everybody-

Tomorrow is game day for the JV and Varsity.  The JV will play at 3:15 in the stadium and the varsity game is now going to be played at 5pm!!  Hope to see you all out there! 
We also play Thursday at 3:15 vs. Lakeside.  The varsity will then play at Poly on Saturday for two games.  JV and Varsity will be in action the day after Christmas at the Poly tournament. 
I will be sending out letters to all of the players who have not turned in fundraising or spirit pack money to me.  It would be great to be able top have this all done by the break.  Please get those boys filling out letters!(www.mvhssoccer.net )

I hope that your week has been going well.  Congrats to the JV Reserve for a hard fought 6^th place finish at the Garey Tournament.  Also the JV boys lost a tough game to Santa Margarita then rebounded to beat

tournament will resume in Jan. after the rainout.

            Last night the Varsity lost a good battle to Norte Vista 1-0 and the JV went down 3-0.  Both teams battled hard but it wasn’t meant to be. 

            JV and Varsity play their first HOME games of the season on Friday.  We are playing La Quinta.  They are a very good team and the boys would love to see you out their cheering them on. 

            In other news, I should have the spirit pack shirts either Thursday or Friday!  Thank you for your patience with me as this is my first time doing a lot of these administrative things.  As soon as I get them the boys who have paid will get them. We also have stickers for sale.  They are awesome stickers with our new soccer crest on them.  They are one for $3 and two for $5!!!  They make great stocking stuffers!

            Lastly, I hate to be such a broken record, but the athletes need to get their spirit pack money and fundraising money to me.  It is for their benefit.  We can get better equipment, travel to better tournaments, get new uniforms (maybe next year), and generally run the best program in the valley.  We are missing 11 athletes’ spirit pack money and 28 players fundraising money!!  That accounts for over $3600!  Please fill out those sponsorship letters or deliver them to businesses in the area.  Places love tax write offs!    I don’t want to have to use play time as a punishment for something that is so not about performance. 

            Thank you all for all of the great support you have given us.  It is all appreciated and loved.  Have a wonderful rest of the week.

Congrats Boy's Varisty

The Boy's Varsity team finished in second place at the Hemet Tournament over the weekend.  They beat Yucaipa 3 - 0, with goals from Travis, Miguel and Ryan, to go on to the Championship game.  The boys then faced league rivals, Great Oak.  We went ahead in the first half on a PK scored by Ryan but then gave up 2 goals.  Final score was 1 - 2.  We will face Great Oak two more times in league play.

The boys played extremely well together. You would never have known by they way the boys played this tournament that these four games were their first games played together as a team.

Well done varsity boys!

Chopper does it again!

The varsity team played a wet game against Paloma Valley.  The game ended in a 0-0 tie and went on to penalty kicks.  Once again, it was Chopper scoring on his PK then turning around to save the last Paloma PK for the win!

Varsity Boys Win in PKs

The varsity boys played their first game today at the Hemet Tournament against Desert Mirage.  It was an exciting match with MVHS dominating most of the play.  We had several shots on goal and finally scored in the second half when Miguel crossed the ball in front of the net and Corey put it in.  Unfortunately Desert Mirage countered with 5 minutes left to play.  The game ended in a 1 - 1 tie and went on to penalty kicks.

We won in penalty kicks 4 - 3 with our goalie, Chopper, scoring one and saving two!

The boys are scheduled to play again on Friday and Saturday!  Good Luck boys!!

A Lot!!

That is how much the varsity soccer players ate the night before their first game at the Hemet Tournament!!

The boys managed to get through:

• 7.5 lbs of lasagna
• 4 large pizzas
• 4 (8 piece) garlic bread orders
• 3 lbs of salad
• 1 case of Gatorade
• 1 case of Vitamin Water
• and a few bottles of water

Afterwards, the boys played Guitar Hero and games on the Wii! A good time was had by all!
